In those days Mahatma Gandhi was talking about the Swadeshi movement across the country, when he also suggested to put his spinning wheel in the middle of this flag. For many years of independence, there was an Indian national flag design with charkha. On July 22, 1947, with the flag being declared the national flag, the place of the charkha was given to the Ashoka Chakra taken from the Sarnath temple of Ashoka.

Venkaiah had a great reverence and patriotism towards India, he traveled to more than 30 countries in five years for the design of the Indian flag and did extensive research on the national flag of those countries. Two years later, it was given shape by the Indian patriots living in Paris. This flag had almost similarities between the design and the flag made in Calcutta. In the flag design process in 1917, Tilak ji presented a flag of 9 colors. Which had a combination of red and green colors.

The new national flag design presented by Pingali Venkaiah in the year 1921 was unanimously approved by all Congress leaders. After which the same flag design was adapted as our national flag.
