In the start of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry starts another year at Hogwarts. This year at school, there was a special surprise Hogwarts was hosting a tri-wizard tournament. The tournament used to be played all the time but there was a large death toll and so it was discontinued.
This year though the tournament was brought back to Hogwarts there was other schools involved too, there was Beauxbatons and Durmstrang both wizard school. In order to be in the tournament, you have to be at a certain age, you must be at least 17 years old, and there are three winners chosen one from each school. To be chosen all names of people that would like to be a part of the tournament go in to the goblet of fire then at a special ceremony the names are spat out.

The names were Cedric Diggory from Hogwarts, Victor Krum a famous quidditch player from Durmstrang, and Fleur Delacour, but when the names were being spat there was an extra with Harry's name on it. So Harry had started the tournament.  There were three tasks one was to retrieve a dragon's egg in which Harry rode a broom and flew all around seeing as he is such a good seeker and managed to get past the dragon. 

Two was to retrieve your friend from a lake on Hogwarts grounds in which Hermione, one of Harry's friends stole a potion from Professor Snape's classroom in which it will give you gills and help you swim around and three was a maze in Which many monsters lurked around Victor was under a spell and started to attack other players in order stop him Harry had to attack him something Harry didn't want to do, but he had to to save Cedric. after that, Cedric and Harry went on there own again but they had not known where fleur was but earlier they heard her scream which was probably Victor but they had to go on by the time Harry finally made it to the cup in which he had to touch to win Cedric was there too the both told each other to touch it and win but they came under the agreement to touch it at the same time so when Harry and Cedric  touched the cup it turned in a port key which was something to transport you from one place to another and it took them to a graveyard where Voldemort was Voldemort was the same person that killed Harry's parents and many others, he was a wizard that was turned bad. 

Voldemort then killed Cedric and tried to do the same Harry and Voldemort then began a duel Harry's wand and Voldemort's wand were brother wands there was only two made and when they started to battle their wands connected and then out of the wands came all of the people Voldemort killed they hissed at Voldemort and cheered for Harry with their help, Harry managed to escape he touched the pot key and was sent back to Hogwarts with him he brought back Cedric's body he tried to explain to everyone that Voldemort was back but few believed.
